• Laird Technologies Inc. last week announced it had acquired remote control system supplier Cattron Group International Inc. Terms weren't discolosed. The acquisition "expands the scope of Laird Technologies' wireless machine-to-machine product offering," according to a prepared statement.
• On Nov. 25, Finmeccanica and the Russian Railways signed a memorandum of understanding to develop, test, introduce, replicate and service modern train control, signaling, automation and transport safety systems, using microprocessor and satellite technology.
• The emissions-level performance of MIRATECH Corp.'s MIRATECH V-CAT® DOC (Diesel Oxidation Catalyst) Kit has been verified by the California Air Resources Board for Electro-Motive Diesel 16-710G3 series engines in locomotive applications.
• The Timken Co. will donate $250,000 to the United Service Organizations Inc.'s (USO) Operation Enduring Care campaign to assist U.S. military veterans. The USO plans to use funds raised from the five-year, $100 million capital campaign to design, build and endow Wounded Warrior Support Centers in Bethesda, Md., and Fort Belvoir, Va.
