Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Union Pacific Railroad recently purchased Hyperion's business management software to distribute financial and operational metrics to management personnel via the Internet.
The Hyperion Business Intelligence Platform — which includes Hyperion Essbase and Hyperion Analyzer — is designed to provide real-time data and analytical tools to manage business activities.
"We've already seen a time savings benefit," said Jeff Totusek, UP assistant vice president of financial analysis, in a prepared statement. "Some recent requests that might have previously taken a couple of days were delivered in minutes."
Union Pacific contracted ThinkFast Consulting Inc. to implement the software.
"With faster access to integrated data, our managers will be better able to respond to business changes by identifying shortfalls or opportunities and thus make faster, more informed decisions," said Totusek.
