Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (GWI) March 14 named former Emons Transportation Group Inc. head Robert Grossman executive vice president, government and industry affairs, and former Emons executive Scott Ziegler, vice president, operational finance. The short-line holding company also named Vice President Administration and Human Resources Shayne Magdoff senior vice president, administration and human resources.
Grossman served Emons as chairman, president and chief executive officer, while Ziegler served as senior vice president and chief financial officer.
"Robert's experience, knowledge and reputation in our sector of the rail industry adds significant depth to our senior management team," said GWI Chairman and CEO Mortimer Fuller in a prepared statement.
GWI — which owns and operates (or owns interest in) more than 20 regionals and short lines in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia and Bolivia — acquired Emons (former owner/operator of four short lines) Feb. 22 and in October purchased 52-mile South Buffalo Railway Co. from Bethlehem Steel Corp.
