TSI remained on uptick in October, BTS says

In October, the Transportation Services Index (TSI) climbed to 102.2, up 0.4 percent from September’s level and 3.2 percent from October 2009’s count, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS).
October’s Freight TSI of 98.9 inched up 0.2 percent on a month-over-month basis and increased 3.2 percent on a year-over-year basis. Through 2010’s first 10 months, the index was down 0.7 percent, but it posted gains in 13 of the 17 months prior to and including October.
The Passenger TSI in October rose 1.1 percent from September’s level to 113.8. On a year-over-year basis, the index increased 2.9 percent.
