Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Sound Transit recently put the finishing touches on SODO and Stadium stations — the first two stations on the Central Link light-rail line.
Providing service to SODO’s commercial and industrial districts, SODO Station features two 400-foot platforms, one serving northbound trains and one serving southbound trains. More than 17,000 passengers are expected to use the station daily.
Stadium Station will provide service to Safeco Field, Qwest Field and the surrounding areas. The facility features a single 400-foot platform to serve both northbound and southbound trains. Between 170,000 and 250,000 passengers are expected to use the station annually.
The 15.6-mile Central Link line will feature 13 stations between downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport. Construction on the 13.9-mile segment between downtown and Tukwila is about half complete.
