Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Yesterday, Sound Transit reached another milestone on its Central Link light-rail project when it began boring two mile-long tunnels in Beacon Hill.
A tunnel-boring machine will cut through the ground and install pre-cast concrete segments, forming the lining of the tunnels that will run between Seattle’s SODO area and the Rainier Valley.
Scheduled to be complete in July 2009, Sound Transit’s $2.4 billion, 14-mile Central Link light-rail line will operate between downtown Seattle and Tukwila, Wash., and serve 12 stations.
