Soo Line, BMWED reach 'framework' agreement
advertisement
Canadian Pacific subsidiary Soo Line Railroad and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Division (BMWED) of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters recently reached a “framework settlement” that would resolve a round of collective bargaining that began on Jan. 1, 2005.
The settlement would apply to Soo Line maintenance-of-way workers in Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Dakota.
Soo Line and BMWED officials have scheduled a meeting in mid-March to finalize settlement terms, which then would be presented to union members for ratification. The railroad and union plan to release settlement terms during the ratification process.
