Last week, the Surface Transportation Board (STB) announced its Section of Environmental Analysis (SEA) has issued a draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for R.J. Corman Railroad Co./Pennsylvania Lines Inc.’s proposed construction, operation and reactivation of a 20-mile line between Wallaceton and Gorton, Pa.
The draft EIS analyzes the project’s environmental impacts, recommends mitigation measures and offers various alternatives to R.J. Corman’s proposal. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Baltimore District and Federal Highway Administration-Pennsylvania Division helped the SEA draft the EIS.
The STB is accepting written comments on the draft EIS until Sept. 28.
