RailPower Technologies Corp. recently signed a licensing agreement with Swedish Train Technology (STT) that calls for STT to provide locomotive conversions of RailPower's hybrid Green Goat® switchers in Scandinavia.
Design and construction for the locomotives currently is under way at STT’s Vetlanda facility. The first T43H hybrid locomotive will be complete by the fourth quarter.
The 2,000-horsepower Green Goat is designed to cut fuel usage between 40 percent and 70 percent and reduce emissions between 80 percent and 90 percent compared with a conventional switcher.
