advertisement
Yesterday, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) approved construction authorization from the Ohio Rail Development Commission directing Norfolk Southern Railway and the Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway Co. (W&LE) to install flashing lights and gates at four grade crossings.
NS will perform work at crossings in Groton Township and Circleville, and W&LE will complete work at crossings in Navarre and Franklin Township.
The railroads must submit site plans and cost estimates for the projects to PUCO by March 15, 2011. Funding for the upgrades will be covered by federal dollars. NS and W&LE must complete all work by Dec. 15, 2011.
