NYCT to fill in the gaps on station's platforms
advertisement
This year, MTA New York City Transit is replacing gap fillers at its 14th Street/Union Square Station on the Lexington Avenue line. The agency contracted Manning & Lewis Engineering’s transit group to complete the project.
The engineering firm will replace and upgrade six gap fillers – metal platforms that move out from the end of a platform and abut the side of a subway car when a train is stationary, closing the gap between a platform and train.
The gap fillers feature a new design that provides maintenance access from the platform rather than requiring maintenance crews to enter the track for service or repair.
Manning & Lewis previously upgraded gap fillers at NYCT’s South Ferry Station.
