Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
On Oct. 30, New Jersey Transit will revise its timetable to offer new and more frequent service.
The agency will add four express trains on the Northeast Corridor to replace Amtrak Clocker trains — which run between Philadelphia and New York City — that are being discontinued Oct. 28.
NJ Transit also will provide more frequent service and capacity at the corridor’s "middle zone" stations. The agency will reduce headways from 20 minutes to 12 minutes at the Edison, Meuchen and Metropark stations; from 17 minutes to 12 minutes at the New Brunswick station; and from 30 minutes to 22 minutes at the Jersey Avenue station.
In addition, NJ Transit will add 16 Holiday Express trains on the Northeast Corridor and Morris & Essex Lines, shaving travel time off trips to New York City on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Finally, the agency will add an early morning train in Montclair and weekend service at Plauderville Station on the Bergen County Line.
