NJ Transit ramps up security following NYC subway threat
advertisement
Several hours after New York City officials reported a terrorist threat on the MTA New York City Transit subway system — and subsequently stepped up security measures — another transit agency followed suit.
The threat hit too close to home for New Jersey Transit, which operates trains into Manhattan. The agency has doubled police patrols and partnered with New Jersey state troopers to monitor stations, terminals and trains.
The agency also added more than two dozen K-9 explosive detection teams to its full K-9 unit and conducted random baggage checks.
