NJ Transit police using mobile tool to access databases, improve security

New Jersey Transit’s police department recently began using BIO-key International Inc.’s PacketCluster Patrol™, a mobile system designed to improve security and assist with interrogations.
The system will provide immediate feedback on wireless queries, telling officers whether an individual has an outstanding warrant or if a vehicle is stolen. PacketCluster software then can alert all officers logged into the system so they provide assistance.
"Officers have immediate access to databases including the National Crime Information Center and state registries of motor vehicles to run queries on persons, vehicles and guns," said NJ Transit Police Chief Joseph Bober in a prepared statement.
