MxV Rail and the Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI) have signed a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) to advance industry research through knowledge sharing, site coordination and joint research.
The agreement outlines how MxV Rail and KRRI will share rolling stock and track for testing, collaborate on digital data asset management and maintenance systems, and exchange personnel for knowledge transfers and employee growth, MxV Rail officials said in a press release.
MxV Rail and KRRI have previously worked together on carbon-neutral and digital technologies. The new MOU will strengthen the organizations' partnership and focuses more closely on research in the areas of heavy haul and high-speed rail technologies.
"Both organizations recognize that, along with our technical prowess, people are the heart of what we do," said MxV Rail CEO and President Kari Gonzales. "With every advancement in the safety, efficiency, reliability and sustainability of the railways, we improve communities around the globe."
The MOU was formalized during 2025 Rail Research Week, a global event hosted by MxV Rail Nov. 17-21 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for industry research presentations and networking. For the first time, MxV Rail united two industry conferences, the International Heavy Haul Association Conference and World Congress on Railway Research, into one event.
