LA MTA seeks to reduce noise on Metro Gold Line
advertisement
This week, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA MTA) began a two-week rail grinding project to improve a five-mile track section on the Metro Gold Line.
The project is expected to reduce noise and smooth passengers’ ride. The grinding is necessary to maintain the proper wheel/rail interface and extend the life of both, according to a prepared statement. When the line opened in July, trackwork had not yet been completed.
LA MTA also has been applying a friction modifier on parts of the track to reduce noise.
