Yesterday, Railway Interchange 2011 organizers announced that veteran Wall Street transportation analyst and Progressive Railroading columnist Tony Hatch will be a keynote speaker during the combined exhibition and technical conference, which will be held Sept. 18-21 in Minneapolis.

The event aims to showcase the latest technology and research by members of the Railway Supply Institute (RSI), Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association (REMSA) and Railway Systems Suppliers Inc. (RSSI). Railway Interchange 2011 also will feature technical presentations and discussions by members of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) and Coordinated Mechanical Associations (CMA). The expo/conference will be the first North American event that will combine AREMA’s and CMA’s technical conferences, and RSI’s, REMSA’s and RSSI’s exhibitions.

Registration for exhibition and technical sessions now is open, and hotel reservations are being accepted, according to event organizers. In addition, most available exhibit space has been reserved and the exhibition likely “will be sold out completely,” said RSI Executive Director Tom Simpson in a prepared statement.

Technical sessions will be held in the Minneapolis convention center and exhibits will be on display both in the convention center and on and off tracks at nearby Humboldt Yard. For more information on the event, log onto www.railwayinterchange.org.
