On Dec. 12, a delegation of nine Russian trade unionists plans to visit Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers' Cleveland headquarters to learn about rail labor-management relations and Federal Railroad Administration's role in the industry.
The delegation also plans to visit other U.S. cities as part of a program conducted jointly by the Solidarity Center, AFL-CIO and U.S. State Department.
The state department is financing the visits and the Solidarity Center is coordinating delegation members' professional studies while in the United States.
Among the delegation is Sergey Linev Larinov, a top official of Russian Railway Workers' Union and chairman of the Russian Trade Union of Railway Locomotive Brigades. The other eight members include top union leaders representing the airline and air-transport, trucking, teachers, construction and natural-gas industries.
While in Cleveland, the delegation also plans to tour CSX Transportation's Collinwood yard and the Cleveland Central Labor Council of AFL-CIO.
