GE, Cubic introduce explosives-detecting ticket vending machine
advertisement
Yesterday, Cubic Corp. and GE Security unveiled an automatic ticket vending machine that features integrated explosives detection capabilities at the American Public Transit Association’s annual Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C.
The ticketing machine incorporates GE’s fingertip trace detection analyzer – the Itemiser FX – into Cubic’s automatic fare-collection system.
Last year, Cubic and GE agreed to jointly create security solutions for public transit agencies; the fare-collection system is the first to be developed under the agreement.
The companies are working with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and transit agencies to expand the use of technology-based security solutions. The ticket vending machine has been selected for a transit pilot program that will be announced in the coming weeks, Cubic and GE said.
