Event reporting: RAILINC offers free-of-charge online tool to small roads

RAILINC Corp. recently added a free event-reporting tool to Steelroads.com designed for registered regional and short-line users, according to American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association's (ASLRRA) bi-weekly newsletter released June 3.

The tool enables small roads to electronically report rail-car events — such as interchanges, arrivals, departures, releases and placements — and provide customers updated car-location data.

The application will help regionals and short lines retain traffic and increase business by increasing efficiency and improving car management, according to ASLRRA.

To streamline interline-shipment processes, RAILINC designed the tool to work in conjunction with other Steelroads features, such as car tracking and tracing.

Sponsored by more than 300 U.S., Canadian and Mexican railroads, Association of American Railroads, ASLRRA and Amtrak, Steelroads also offers bill-of-lading and pricing tools.
