Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has reopened its third Brown Line station in a month. After being closed the past year for construction, Addison Station opened earlier this week. The facility features longer platforms, new elevators and a new stationhouse.
The station renovation is part of the Brown Line capacity expansion project, which calls for upgrading and lengthening platforms at 18 stations to accommodate eight-car trains, and upgrading or replacing traction power, signal and communication equipment. The $530 million project is scheduled to be complete by 2009’s end.
