CSXT to grant Michigan short line access to Saginaw track
advertisement
CSX Transportation recently agreed to grant Central Michigan Railway Co. (CMGN) limited rights to four track miles in Saginaw, Mich.
The line extends from the clearance point at CSXT's/CMGN's interconnecting track through CSXT's Saginaw yard, to the Class I's connection with Huron and Eastern Railway Co. Inc. (HESR) on CSXT's Bad Axe Subdivision.
The trackage rights would enable 84-mile CMGN to interchange certain traffic with 188-mile HESR about one mile east of CSXT's Saginaw yard, and help the short line improve its operating efficiency.
Surface Transportation Board is considering the railroads' application for a trackage rights exemption, which the board expects to grant soon, according to a notice dated Aug. 29.
CMGN is a subsidiary of Straits Corp.; HESR is a subsidiary of short-line holding company RailAmerica Inc.
