Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Last week, Canadian Pacific Railway joined the U.S. Army’s Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) Program. The Class I agreed to provide enlisted soldiers priority hiring status.
A strategic partnership program between the Army and public agencies and private corporations, PaYS enables enlistees to receive specific civilian job training while in the army. Recruits will sign a statement of understanding of intent to work for CPR after completing their military service. Soldiers will have the opportunity to interview for a specific railroad job at a certain location.
“The partnership with the Army will help us recruit for a number of different positions so we can ensure our company has a strong workforce in place to meet the shipping needs of our customers,” said CPR Assistant Vice President Scott MacDonald in a prepared statement.
BNSF Railway Co., Norfolk Southern Corp. and Union Pacific Railroad as are PaYS program members.
