advertisement
October was another good coal-loading month for BNSF Railway Co. in the Powder River Basin (PRB), just not another record-setting month.
Last month, the Class I loaded 24.1 million tons of coal in the PRB (which includes Wyoming and Montana mines), representing a 3 percent increase from October 2007’s 23.4 million tons. Daily train loadings in the region averaged 52.8, up about 3 percent.
Through October, BNSF loaded 228.1 million tons of coal in the PRB, or 2.6 percent more vs. the 222.3 million tons loaded during 2007’s first 10 months. Daily train loadings averaged 51.2, up 2.8 percent.
