BNSF adds intermodal lanes to online rate list
advertisement
Burlington Northern Santa Fe Jan. 3 posted to its Web site (www.bnsf.com/business/iabu) rates for an additional 48 intermodal lanes, raising to 250 the total number of lanes BNSF's site now maintains. The Class I in July began posting ramp-to-ramp intermodal rates on the Internet.
Shippers that organize their own drayage and sign BNSF's intermodal service-user agreement can access the rates, which cover the only domestic and full-truckload rates the railroad offers in those selected lanes.
"Judging from our Web site statistics and the number of shippers using the Internet rates, the transportation community is responding well to this easy-to-use resource to help them get the most value from their transportation dollar," said Ed Zajac, BNSF assistant vice president, IMC and truckload marketing, in a prepared statement.
