Parsons Brinckerhoff to provide construction management services for NYCT's Second Avenue Subway

The MTA Capital Construction Co. recently contracted Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB) to provide construction management services for the first phase of MTA New York City Transit’s Second Avenue Subway project.

The project calls for building a double-track line below Second Avenue from 125th Street to lower Manhattan’s financial district. The 16-station line also will connect with existing subway lines.

Under the first phase, NYCT will construct twin tunnels from 96th Street to 63rd Street, build three new stations and rehabilitate the 63rd Street station. Construction is scheduled to be complete in 2013.

PB will provide engineering and inspection services, and will be responsible for design/constructability reviews, contract management and administration, project controls, value engineering, utility coordination, and the line’s commissioning and start-up.
