CTA completes Cermak Blue Line station renovation

Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) recently completed upgrades to the Kostner Station, one of eight stations being reconstructed as part of the authority’s Cermak (Douglas) Blue Line branch renovation.

Formerly known as the Kildare Avenue Station, the facility was renamed to reflect the new main entrance, located on Kostner Avenue. The Kildare Avenue entrance now is the secondary entrance.

The renovated station includes an island platform between the northbound and southbound tracks with benches, overhead heaters, enhanced lighting and canopies. CTA added a ramp, wheelchair turnstile and Braille signs for disabled passengers, as well as new station signs and a pubic address system.

The Cermak (Douglas) Rehabilitation Project is about 80 percent complete.
