Sammon to head Transportation Security Administration's network management office

Yesterday, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced it appointed John Sammon assistant administrator of the recently created Transportation Sector Network Management (TSNM) office.

Most recently a senior manager for software venture firm e-Carload, Sammon has more than 25 years’ experience in the rail, port and trucking industries. He previously held senior vice president and other upper management positions at CSX Transportation and Conrail.

“[Sammon’s] leadership will strengthen our capability to actively engage with our public and private sector partners in improving security across the transportation network,” said TSA Assistant Secretary Kip Hawley in a prepared statement.

The TSNM oversees security for railroads, mass transit, cargo, ships, airlines, airports, highways, pipelines and international transportation. The office assigns a general manager to each sector who’s responsible for the security of their mode.
