On July 13, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Company announced the launch of BNSF TransBid™, an online marketplace designed to connect shippers and transloaders by providing access to bids for truck and warehousing needs.

The Web site — www.bnsftransload.com or through BNSF iPower — enables shippers to post shipment opportunities and access an array of services, including tarping or barcoding. Transload companies receive e-mail alerts when opportunities arise in their areas; transloaders also can log onto TransBid™ to view potential opportunities. Once transloaders submit their opportunities, shippers can view the bids.

"BNSF TransBid™ directly connects shippers and transloaders, creating a more effective shipping process for all parties involved, including BNSF," said Vann Cunningham, the railroad's assistant vice president, Economic Development, in a prepared statement.
