UP to speed up trains through Arkansas town

advertisement

On Nov. 1, Union Pacific Railroad plans to begin increasing train speed through Paragould, Ark., from 40 mph to 60 mph.

The Class I will boost speed 5 mph each week until trains reach the new maximum limit Nov. 22. Train speed currently has been limited at 40 mph through Paragould because of track constraints, but UP recently improved the line.

Earlier this year, the railroad increased train speed through several communities — including Abilene, Ennis, Grand Saline, Midland, Sinton and Stanton, Texas — after improving track and modifying grade-crossing signals.
