Rail News: Rail Industry Trends

New on Blogs

The scribes at Progressive Railroading are joining the blogger set, but not just for blogging’s sake.

Each month, we converse with a cross-section of transportation industry insiders and tap into many developing and (we think) interesting topics that deserve to be covered — be it in the magazine; in public forums, such as our annual RailTrends conference (this year’s event will be held Oct. 3-4 in New York City); or online via … where we’ve just begun to complement our Daily News coverage with weblogs or “blogs” that we’ll post frequently.

First in the blogger’s chair: Managing Editor Jeff Stagl, who’s authored two entries. One dissects why Kevin Schieffer is giddy about the proposed DM&E/CPR merger and its potential impact on his Powder River Basin project, and the other underscores Class I CIO’s concerns about the shrinking number of computer science graduates joining the rail industry and what one officer — BNSF Railway Co.’s Jeff Campbell— is doing about it.
