Updates from Kenco Logistic Services, Jacobs Engineering, ALK Technologies and RailRunner

• Kenco Logistic Services L.L.C. (KLS) has been recognized by INVISTA for reaching a warehouse safety milestone. As of Sept. 13, INVISTA’s 690,000-square-foot Chattanooga, Tenn., operation managed by KLS had no loss-of-time accidents in 33 years.

• Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. has received a $10 million contract from the Highways Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to provide engineering services for the construction, testing and commissioning phase of the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link.

• ALK Technologies Inc. announced the successful certification and integration of industry-standard PC*MILER® 24 and PC*Miler Tolls 24 by strategic alliance partner McLeod Software. PC*Miler’s 24th annual edition includes map data updates such as truck restrictions and truck-specific toll costs. The certification also covers ALK’s street-level routing, multi-version switch and hazardous material routing solutions.

• TÜV Rheinland Group has issued a report identifying the bi-modal technology of RailRunner NA as "promising" for approval to be used in the European marketplace, according to a press release. The study focuses on the “lower lifecycle costs and environmental benefits, which result from the technical innovations of the railRunner system itself,” RailRunner officials said in a prepared statement. The report describes the cost-saving potential of the RailRunner technology as “outstanding” and concludes that the prospect is good that the technology will win approval by the European Rail Agency under its Technical Specification of Interoperability.
