NYCT riders give Flushing and Canarsie lines average scores

The results are in: MTA New York City Transit's (NYCT) 7 Flushing Line and Canarsie L Line are about average, riders say.

More than 6,000 passengers participated in the agency's second annual Subway Rider Report Card for the lines, grading them on everything from "minimal delays during trips" to "adequate room on board at rush hour," to "cleanliness of stations" to "lack of scratchitti in subway cars."

Riders on the L Canarsie Line gave a "C-plus" for overall service, an improvement over 2007's "C" grade. About 2,200 passengers completed report cards vs. last year's 4,000. Passengers also prioritized the improvements they'd like to see. The top three? Adequate room on board during rush hour, minimal delays during trips and reasonable wait times for trains.

Meanwhile, 4,113 7 Flushing Line riders gave the service a "C-minus," the same grade that 15,800 respondents gave the line last year. Passengers' top recommendations in order of priority were minimal delays during trips, adequate room on board at rush hour and reasonable wait times for trains.
