Maryland Transit Administration seeks feedback on Purple Line studies

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is accepting public comments on the Alternatives Analysis/Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed Purple Line.

Conducted as part of the Federal Transit Administration's New Starts process, the studies identify various alternatives for the proposed transit corridor, as well as environmental impacts.

MTA has proposed operating either light-rail or bus rapid transit service along the 16-mile Purple Line, which would run between Bethesda and New Carrollton, providing a direct connection with Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, Maryland Rail Commuter, Amtrak and local bus service. The 21-station line also would serve Takoma Park, Langley Park, the University of Maryland and Riverdale Park.
