SEPTA unveils $1 billion FY09 spending plan

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) recently proposed a $1.08 billion fiscal-year 2009 operating budget that would fund service initiatives to meet growing demand.

The authority plans to address overcrowding; expand peak-period service; improve mid-day, evening and late-night service; and add late-night and weekend service on the regional rail system. In addition, the budget proposes funds to improve customer communications, and station and vehicle cleanliness.
