ALSTOM to supply trains in France, Denmark

France’s Angers Loire Metropolitan Authority recently awarded a contract to ALSTOM Transport to supply trams and power systems for its new tramway.

ALSTOM will design and supply a full-scale CITADIS™ tram and wireless APS power supply system. The contract includes an option, which is expected to be exercised in June 2007, for the purchase of 17 trams. The contract's total value is $57.2 million.

Angers is building a 7.5-mile, 25-station tramway linking Avrillé to the Rosaeraie district. The line is scheduled to open in 2009.

Meanwhile, ALSTOM also obtained a $29.2 million contract to supply nine CORADIA LINT regional trains for Vestsjaellands Lokalbaner, which operates in the western part of Denmark’s Zealand region.

Scheduled to be delivered in September 2007, the trains will feature video surveillance, an automatic gap closing and air conditioning systems.

The contract is part of an agreement signed in November 2004 for Denmark regional rail operators. ALSTOM currently is building 27 CORADIA LINT trains for Lokalbanen, which operates in northern Zealand.
