TriMet to raise ticket prices Jan. 1

For the second-straight year, the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) will increase fares.

On Jan. 1, the agency will raise cash fares and monthly passes 15 cents and $6, respectively, to help offset a more than $4.5 million budget deficit caused by high fuel prices.

TriMet also will raise Youth/Student and Honored Citizen cash fares 10 cents and increase monthly passes to $2.

In addition, the agency will introduce a new seven-day rolling pass that offers savings similar to the monthly pass, but can be purchased in a smaller increment.
