Amtrak completes restoration of historical California depot

Tomorrow, Amtrak and the California Department of Transportation (DOT) will open a restored Fresno Santa Fe Depot.

The rehabilitated station features a larger and more comfortable waiting area, improved ticketing facility, Quik-Trak ticketing, checked baggage service, business offices and adjacent retail space. The $6 million project also included adding parking spaces, and improving access to the facility for buses, taxis and pedestrians.

Opened in1899, the historic facility has been restored to maintain its Mission-style design and other architectural features, such as the station clock and clock tower. The station is served by 12 daily Amtrak San Joaquin passenger trains, which are operated in partnership with the California DOT.
