Trouble with the Curves? DMF has the remedy using the RW1019B with Tight Curvature Package
When facing rail systems designed for LRV and inner city metro service, tight curves can be a difficult obstacle to overcome. If not addressed properly, derailing your maintenance equipment can be inevitable.
The DMF RW1019B standard design incorporates the shortest rail axle wheelbase in the industry. Unlike vertically deployed railgear, the front railgear mounts directly to the vehicle frame and eliminates the need for front frame extensions. When deployed, the axles articulate inward toward the vehicle center which allows the rail wheels to sit within inches of the vehicle tires. Thus, maximizing curvature performance.
Vehicle wheelbase is also critical. Obviously, the shorter the wheelbase, the better the curvature performance. As the curves tighten, there are further modifications that can be implemented. We evaluate tire size and vehicle height in conjunction with the vehicle wheelbase in our curvature analysis in order to achieve the best case application.
