The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority's (HART) board has appointed Benjamin Limmer chief executive officer.Most recently the assistant general manager for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), Limmer succeeds Jeff Seward, who's served as interim CEO for more than a year since former leader Katharine Eagan left HART to lead the Port Authority of Allegheny County.Prior to joining MARTA, Limmer held various transit leadership positions at the Atlanta BeltLine Inc. in Atlanta, Valley Metro in Phoenix and Regional Transit Authority in Cleveland. He has more than 15 years of transit experience.HART operates buses and the TECO Line Streetcar System in Tampa, Florida. The 2.7-mile line runs from downtown Tampa though the Channel District and Ybor City, and features replica streetcars from Tampa's historical streetcar line. "Benjamin Limmer will bring the experience this county needs to expand service for our fast-growing area," said HART Chairman Lesley Miller. "Increasing mobility in our county is our basis for a prosperous and sustainable future."
