Patriot Rail Co. LLC has hired Bill Broyles to serve as senior vice president of business development for the Jacksonville-based short-line and regional railroad operator.

Broyles has more than 40 years of rail experience in areas such as general rail operations, mechanical, engineering, traffic management customer solutions, freight claims, labor relations and risk management.

Most recently, he was president and co-founder of Foster Townsend Rail Logistics Inc., which provides rail switching and rail management, mobile rail-car repair and rail consulting services. Prior to Foster Townsend, Broyles was president of the Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis and also spent decades working for Norfolk Southern Railway.

Patriot Rail will draw on Broyles' "business development expertise and extensive knowledge of the rail industry to plan and accomplish our key strategic goals," said President and Chief Executive Officer John Fenton in a press release.
