New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy last week nominated seven people to serve on New Jersey Transit’s board as part of the latest step in the governor's efforts to overhaul the beleaguered agency.

The nominees are Raymond Greaves, David Rasmussen, James Adams, Janet Gasbarro, Lynn Spadaro, Richard Maroko and Susan Shin Angulo.

“A strong NJ Transit Board is critical to ensuring a leadership team whose sole focus is on restoring safety, reliability and accountability to commuters,” Murphy said in a press release.

Provisions of a law, signed by Murphy in December 2018, call for an expansion of the board’s size from eight to 13 members. Under the law, the members will include a rail and bus commuter, representatives from both North and South Jersey, four members with transportation policy experience, and two nonvoting representatives from the agency's largest rail and bus employee unions.

The nominations must be approved by the state Senate.
