The John W. Barriger III National Railroad Library has appointed Nicholas Fry archivist/collection curator.
Fry began his new duties last month at the library, which is housed in the St. Louis Mercantile Library at the University of Missouri-St. Louis that was founded in 1846.
Fry’s previous experience includes a stint as an operations specialist at the NASA Center for Aerospace Information, as well as various information management and records management posts with several other government agencies. During the past decade, Fry has managed the archives and research activities of the B&O Railroad Historical Society.
The Barriger Library has become a major resource for the history of railroad business and technology, as well as for the study of railroading’s influence on the U.S. economy, society and culture, library officials said in a prepared statement.
