CSX appoints Pendergrass, Swafford to VP posts

CSX Transportation announced yesterday the appointment of Mike Pendergrass to vice president of transportation and Jermaine Swafford to vice president of regional transportation-southern region.

Pendergrass and Swafford will support Cindy Sanborn in her newly-appointed role as executive vice president of operations. In terms of their individual roles, Pendergrass will coordinate the daily operations of CSX’s fleet and Swafford will oversee integrated operations across the Class I's southern region.

Both men come to their new positions after long tenures at CSX. Most recently VP of regional transportation-southern region, Pendergrass held various leadership roles at the company for 26 years. Most recently a division manager in Atlanta, Swafford served in many operations-oriented positions at CSX in the span of roughly 17 years.

The promotions also follow the recent election of Oscar Munoz as president.
