CSX today announced Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Diana Sorfleet will retire Feb. 22 from the company after 15 years of service.
Sorfleet has served as EVP and CAO since July 2018. She oversees employee benefits, compensation, talent acquisition and management, training and development, employee relations and recognition programs, according to her bio on the CSX website.
She had a pivotal role in orchestrating the company’s pandemic response and guided the development and implementation of a comprehensive social justice action plan, according to her bio. Previously, as chief human resources officer, Sorfleet managed workforce strategies during the company’s scheduled railroading transformation.
Her leadership was essential in helping guide CSX through pivotal moments and organizational transformations, including the transition of four CEOs, while serving the organization and the board of directors with confidence, CSX officials said in a press release.
"Throughout her tenure, Diana has been a trusted steward of our culture,” said CSX President and CEO Steve Angel. “Her leadership, strategic insight and unwavering commitment to advancing CSX’s long-term objectives have strengthened the organization. We are grateful for her service and wish her the best in her next chapter."
Sorfleet joined CSX in June 2011 after many years in human resources with Exelon, where she rose to VP for diversity and development.
Also today, CSX announced Riz Chand will become chief human resources officer on Feb. 23. He will report to Angel.
Chand comes to CSX from AEA Investors, a midmarket private equity firm, where he served as chief talent officer and operating partner and was responsible for leading talent and organization development. His background includes senior human resources leadership roles at other companies, including BNSF Railway.
In his new role at CSX, Chand will oversee human resources, the CSX Total Rewards program, people systems and occupational health compliance.
