Commuter association hires Anderson as exec director

The Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT) has named Bill Anderson as its new executive director.

Anderson, who began his new duties June 1, has 17 years of experience in nonprofit and government entities in the fields of community sustainability, regional resilience and transportation system operations and management.

"Mobility is changing rapidly and we are very excited to have Bill at the helm of ACT so we can continue to be a leader and a visionary association for our members," said ACT President Rob Henry in a press release.

Anderson's transportation career began in the U.S. Coast Guard's Office of Standards Development and Evaluation, where he served as a regulatory and communication expert addressing the safety and security of commercial facilities and vessels.

Anderson also served stints at the U.S. Transportation Security Administration and the Intelligent Transportation Society of America. Most recently, he was director and chief operating officer of the Infrastructure Security Partnership, a nonprofit coalition of homeland security and emergency management stakeholders.
