CSX tabs Riley to manage industrial development in South Carolina

CSX Corp. has appointed Kellen Riley the industrial development manager for South Carolina. He will be responsible for managing existing customer partnerships, helping to locate rail-served industries along CSX's network in the state and identifying new development sites.

Riley joined CSX in 2010 as part of the new business development team that oversees the expansion of the Class I's petroleum, plastics, phosphates and fertilizers business. He now will be part of the regional development team that assists firms interested in locating facilities on CSX's network and tries to convert potential customers to rail.

"[Riley will] help drive industry development and customer investment in the state of South Carolina," said Clark Robertson, CSX's assistant vice president of regional development, in a press release. "Kellen's enthusiasm and familiarity with South Carolina's business environment will broaden our footprint in the state while contributing to ongoing economic development activities."

In the past five years, CSX and its customers have invested more than $14 billion in rail-served facilities, including industrial plants and distribution centers. Last year, CSX's regional development team helped spur the construction of 121 new facilities and plant expansions that generated more than $3 billion in capital investments and created 1,600 jobs.
