CATS CEO Flowers recognized as 'Outstanding Business Woman'

Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) Chief Executive Officer Carolyn Flowers has been named a top 25 “Outstanding Business Woman” by the Charlotte Business Journal.

The award recognizes professional women who have led special projects, developed new products or helped their business stand out in other ways, CATS officials said in a prepared statement.

Flowers has nearly 20 years of experience working for transit agencies, including CATS. Since joining CATS 16 months ago, she has secured federal support for the Lynx Blue Line extension, sought new funding sources through expanded use of advertising and revamped the agency’s long-term regional transportation plan. The plan advanced two major corridors by reducing the project scope of the Blue Line extension by $200 million, and sought private-public partnerships for the advancement of the Red Line commuter-rail route.
