Westside MAX throws itself a birthday party
advertisement
Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (Tri-Met) is celebrating Westside MAX light-rail line’s second year in service Sept. 12 with a party — complete with gifts and cake.
Since opening Sept. 1998, Westside MAX ridership has exceeded 16 million trips — already passing Tri-Met’s seven-year (2005) goal. And Saturday use almost matches weekday commuter use.
To mark the occasion, Tri-Met staff is giving away two all-day tickets for use on MAX light rail or buses.
At noon, special trains will bring mayors from Beaverton, Gresham, Hillsboro and Portland, and Portland’s City Commissioner to Civic Stadium Station Plaza for brief remarks and cake.
