Vancouver SkyTrain opens Millennium Line
advertisement
On Aug. 31, Vancouver, British Columbia-based TransLink opened its Millennium SkyTrain Line, a 12.4-mile line with 11 stations linking downtown Vancouver with neighboring communities in the province’s Lower Mainland.
Bombardier Transportation, which supplied and installed the electrical and mechanical systems, completed the work in 33 months — 10 weeks ahead of schedule.
Bombardier also provided 60 ART MK II vehicles under a separate contract, adding to SkyTrain’s existing fleet of 150 ART MK I vehicles, which Bombardier also manufactured. The new vehicles are longer, wider and more comfortable than the first generation cars, the company said in a prepared statement.
